Permanently Pissed are a heavy Punk rock band from Detroit. They've been playing a ton of shows around the city and we spoke with Freddie, Jay, John, and Steve from the band about their influences, music, and more. Enjoy!!
Remove Records: Can you start by telling us how the band got started?
Freddie (Vox/Guitar): So the band got started through an ex girlfriend introducing me and jay (current drummer) We met up in jays basement and havent looked back since. The two of us have always just wanted to jam and be loud and have fun.
The 3 of us end up moving into a trailer together ,so the jams get bigger and the neighbors love us more.
Our first "gig" was an open mic in wixom at The drafting table.
Just the 3 of us me jay and an ex.
Then as shows happened we turned into a 5 piece band , adding jays cousin on guitar and nickel (scum queens) on guitar.
Who are some of your influences?
Jay (Drummer): Pearl Jam, Pantera, Soundgarden, Black Crowes, Led Zeppelin, Foo Fighters
John (Guitar): Pavement, Silver Jews, Velvet Underground, Daniel Johnston, The Pixies, Sonic Youth
Steve (Bass): The Stooges, Nirvana, Death (from Detroit), The Deftones, and The Plasmatics
What kind of message are you trying to share with your music?
Freddie: Were just trying to get a big fun sound ,and maybe just maybe get ya too feel something
Jay: Nothing but love, get out there and create, be kind and leave a a good, lasting impression and take no shit!
What are your thoughts on Detroit?
John: One of the most unique and expressive cities in the world. Depth in the underground art and music scene, awesome venues and DIY settings, fun and energetic crowds, tight knit community.
Freddie: Thankful to live around here and love whats being pumped out, to me Detroit is the "beautiful struggle".
Jay: It's actually an awesome place despite what people think, it's not scary, lots of Detroit history and sports and love.

Jay: Corktown Tavern, Cadieux Cafe, New Dodge Lounge, Simons After Dark, Smalls
Freddie: Mostly anything in Ham town
John: Exferimentation Brewing Company, New Dodge Lounge; Ounce Of Love, Sugar Tradition
What are you working on next?
Jay: Working on recording our first album in the studio soon and coming out with lots of new merchandise and video content and pictures.
Freddie: More shows! And maybe a recording if we cross our fingers
How do you feel about the future of music/art?
Jay: I feel very hopeful for the future of all music, after this rough year its apparently clear that we need music to get through life and to understand ourselves and to speak out and to help make us happy, the music scene is as strong now as its ever been and coming back in full force. We're seeing people back out there that haven't played in over a year, so all good things.
John: There is a hunger for real authentic music and art and an expression of the human condition. I sense a revival and a large movement coming together in the next few years.
Freddie: Becoming more and more electric and i believe will just continue to grow and change. As long as humans have emotions i believe will have music
I guess to wrap it up I just wanna say have fun do something different and maybe get out to a show sometime any show and let loose. Because before you know it todays gonna be another yesterday.
